This was a contract job with the DEI department at SCSU, where I was tasked with designing banners for the university library that highlighted their diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Over the course of three months, I worked remotely and collaborated closely with the DEI committee through weekly meetings. In these meetings, I presented my design concepts, explained my thought process, and gathered feedback to ensure the designs aligned with the committee's vision and values.
First Design presented to the DEI Board.
The board reviewed the design, and we went over things that needed to change. The Main Takeaways were:
Too many graduation regalia photos. Try to find different pictures.
Convey the map message better.
Knot illustration is taking too much space.
Come up with other unique slogan.
I then redesigned the banners to better fit with the needs of the board, and this was the final result.
This project required a balance of creativity and clear communication, as the banners needed to visually convey important messages to a diverse audience. The experience also sharpened my skills in presenting and refining design work based on client feedback, which was crucial in delivering a final product that represented the DEI department’s mission. This design was considered but not chosen by the board.
